Uber Driver Gets The Best Gift From A Kind Passenger
Ellis Hill of Pennsylvania works as an Uber driver. And recently, God put a very special passenger in his vehicle. And thanks to this special angel, Ellis’ dream of watching his son compete in the 2016 Olympic Games has come true!

Ellis is extremely proud of his son, Darrell. Darrell competes in shot put, and was selected to represent Team USA in the 2016 Olympic Games. Ellis desperately wanted to join his son in Rio, but simply couldn’t afford it. That is, until God made special arrangements!
When the Uber driver picked up Liz Willock, the two hit it off over an hour-long drive through Philadelphia. They talked about everything, and when the topic of the upcoming Olympic Games came up, Ellis proudly boasted that his son was headed to Rio to represent Team USA in shot put.

Impressed, Liz asked if Ellis would be going. Her heart broke when the Uber driver confessed he couldn’t afford to join his son in Rio.

Liz just so happened to work for a concierge service that arranges travel and accommodations for people seeking clinical trials around the world. And it was clear she was put into Ellis’ vehicle for a reason.
“She asked me, ‘If I could get you a ticket would you go?’ And I said, ‘Oh my goodness I don’t even know you!'” Ellis recalls. “She said, ‘No. I believe you and I were fated to meet and I’m going to try to make this happen.'”
The two traded contact information, and Liz set up a GoFundMe page for Ellis the very next day. It was going to take $7,500 to get the Uber driver to Rio. And boy did God provide!
Donations rolled in and hit the goal in only two days! The most humbling part was that, of the the 150 people who donated, Ellis only knew about 10 of them. The rest of the money came from complete strangers who just wanted to help out of the kindness of their own hearts!

The unexpected generosity truly moved Ellis and his son.
“I was ecstatic,” Ellis said. “I feel really grateful and overcome by the knowledge that there are good people out there.”
Father and son hadn’t seen each other for months because of Darrell’s rigorous training. So, it meant to the world to Ellis to get to be with him at the Olympics to “encourage him in person and let him know I’m 100 percent in his corner.”

And to make this story even sweet, Ellis and his special angel are now good friends.
“Liz was only a stranger for 5 minutes,” he said. “We talk all the time now and I know we’re going to be friends for a long time.”
It’s stories like these that remind us there are still good people in this world. And God has a way of bringing the right people together at just the right time!
