4 Words EVERY Single Person Needs. Being Alone Isn’t A Sickness, It’s A SEASON!

LOVE God and the rest will follow.

If you’re single and feeling lonely…you’re not alone. Many young (and not so young) struggle with being alone and waiting for that perfect guy or girl to come into their life. Well, take heart and hang in there. This article is written to encourage you during this season. I promise, God has a plan for YOU, too!

1) Have Patience

If you rush into ANY relationship and or marriage, you will be tempted to rush out when the other person seems to stop meeting your needs. Singleness is NOT a sickness, it’s a season in which the Lord will teach you invaluable things about yourself. Be patient and participate with Him in this process. This time alone has value…I promise!

2) God’s Perspective

Remember this – God is a good God who wants good things for His children. Whatever your plans are for you–God wants better. Anytime you begin to see a relationship drifting into serious territory you need to honestly ask yourself, “is this immeasurably more than anything I could have asked for or imagined?” If the answer is “no” then know that God has more in store…and that He has called His children to do many things, but compromise is not one of them.

3) Passion and Purpose

Ask yourself this question: If God were to give me to someone right now, would I be a blessing to them…or a curse?

Have the honesty to answer that question. If you see gaps in your life that may cause you to be a curse do not be discouraged, but rather allow those things to be motivation to ask Jesus to shape your heart and set it on fire to pursue Christ, the only One who can take a curse and turn it into a blessing. Find God’s purpose and use that passion for God’s glory and honor.

4) Pursue JESUS

The best decision (starting right now) for a single person is to pursue Jesus…and do that every single day for the rest of your life.

All too often the pursuit of a dating relationship often causes a person to take their eyes off of Jesus. And set a new standard that no one you date will distract you from keeping your eyes on Jesus.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus…And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4: 6-7,19
