An Adam Wainwright Twitter invitation had over 13,000 fans saying they’d join the all-star baseball player in reading through the Bible in a single year. What an amazing way to use the platform God has given him!

Veteran pitcher with the St. Louis Cardinals Adam Wainwright posted a simple message on Twitter announcing his plans to read through God's Word in one year. In order to tackle the feat, Adam committed to reading selections each day from the Old and New Testaments.

But here’s the best part. The Major League Baseball player doesn’t want to do it alone. So, Adam extended an invite to his fans on Twitter, asking them to join him in the journey!

"Hey everybody," he wrote. "This won’t be for everyone, but it’s an important part of my life. Most of y’all probably just want to talk baseball, etc. BUT, if you want to read through the Bible with me In one year you can join my other twitter account ... @walkingwwaino."

The Christian celebrity invited fans to follow Walking With Waino. This is a separate Adam Wainwright Twitter account dedicated to posting updates about daily readings.

And right away, thousands started signing, with more than 13,000 people following the new account in just a week’s time!

"This is a cool opportunity for me to walk through God’s Word in community with you," Adam wrote. "It’s my prayer that this would be a blessing and a daily encouragement to you all."

Adam’s church, St. Simons Community Church in Georgia, even set up a webpage dedicated to the journey. There, Bible readers can sign up to receive Adam Wainwright’s daily journal insights via email.

Fans Response To Bible Reading Invitation

The Adam Wainwright Twitter invitation has gone over way better than the MLB star ever expected.

"Your post was a complete God wink for my family," one person wrote on Twitter. "My 15-year-old just said not even a week ago that we should read the Bible in a year. I open Twitter today and here you are…we are both thrilled and can't wait to start!"

Another wrote, "I'm in. I love baseball but I love Jesus and his word more! I am not a Cardinals fan but I am a fan of yours."

The incredible feedback astounded Adam.

"I can’t believe the response on here so far!" he said.
