Go for the Green

Out of My Way
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us. – Hebrews 12:1
One glaring difference among golfers is that some wear watches, never remove their bulging wallets, even dangle large towels from their belt loops, whereas others avoid every possible disturbance from extraneous objects. In golf, this difference does not matter much; in life, it may matter greatly.
Scripture teaches that we are to recognize the many things that keep us from running the race that is marked for us. This is the race for eternity. Knowing Christ was completely righteous, we can be assured that He did not carry with Him the weight of sin or the distraction of fruitless pastimes. And as men and women of God, we must stick to our purpose: to become like Christ, running an unhindered path to our heavenly Father. To those other things we say, "Out of my way!"
