Get Your Passion Back! – Senior Living – April 9

Get your passion back!

O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you. My soul thirsts for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. – Psalm 63:1

A shopper approached the perfume counter at a department store and asked the saleswoman, "Do you still have Elizabeth Taylor's Passion?"

To which the overworked saleswoman candidly replied, "If I did, honey, would I be working here?"

Passion is something no Christian should be without. It's the mark of knowing that your life has purpose in God's plans – and that each day brings adventures of His making. But the heart of true, life-affirming passion is found in your relationship with God. He is the only infinite source of joy, and when you lose sight of Him, your passion quickly fades away.

Psalm 63 reveals David's eager pursuit of God. He knows nothing else on earth can truly satisfy his soul, so he seeks God as a thirsty man longs for water in a desert. And just as He will for you today, God responds to David's cries. As the psalmist later proclaims...

I have seen you in the sanctuary
and beheld your power and your glory.
Because your love is better than life,
my lips will glorify you.
I will praise you as long as I live,
and in your name I will lift up my hands.
I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods...

Passion ignites in our hearts when we encounter God. So if you feel today like your passion has evaporated, seek God as David did, and the Lord will satisfy your soul.

Prayer Challenge:

Pray that God will draw you to Himself and allow you to encounter Him in a powerful way.
