A micro-preemie goes home after 65 days in the NICU, defying all odds given to him by the doctors. What a miracle!

Medical advances and brilliant doctors make it possible for the smallest of babies to survive early births and difficult pregnancies, but even with today's scientific and human resources, Saniah Poindexter was told that her child "would not survive."

Saniah was 19 when she learned she was pregnant. Thrilled by the news, she did everything she could to maintain a healthy pregnancy. Things were going well until her 26th week. Saniah, a college student at Grand Rapids Community College, began feeling badly after classes one day.

With a high fever and stomach pain, Saniah soon learned that she was in active labor and would be delivering her baby at 14 weeks early! Saniah was terrified, saying, "I cried about it a lot when I was warned he "would not survive". They told me I would be lucky if he came home."

Preemies are babies who are born before a pregnancy has reached 37 weeks. However, micro-preemies are those that arrive before a pregnancy reaches 26 weeks or are born weighing less than 1 lb. 12 ounces. Saniah's little peanut, whom she named Kayden, weighed only 1 lb. 11 ounces!

Kayden spent 65 days in the NICU ward, but he eventually went home, having grown to a full 4 lbs. 8 ounces. Saniah was so thankful to be taking her sweet boy home. She said, "Bringing him home was the happiest day of my life."

Today, Kayden is doing great. Mom describes him as "thriving" and "feisty." While his actual age, when considering that he was three months premature, is only one month, he is already making noises and rolling over!

Sometimes the odds are scary, but God is always able to beat whatever odds line up against His children. Despite the overwhelming challenges that Kayden faced and Saniah's fear along the way, she declared, "I knew he was special." Indeed, he is! Indeed, He is!
