Olympic Runner Wayde Van Niekerk Gives All Glory To God
The 2016 Rio Olympics have had some pretty incredible moments. But the most impressive thing to me is how many of the athletes are proudly proclaiming their faith in Jesus Christ. And Olympic Runner Wayde van Niekerk is no exception. After shattering the 400m record, he didn’t hesitate to place all of the credit right where it belonged — with our Lord and Savior!
Wayde did his home country of South Africa proud when he took gold in the 400m Men’s Final.
And not only did he blow the competition away, but he shattered the 400m world record, set 17 years prior by Michael Johnson, with a time of 43.03 seconds!
But the devoted Christian has made his fellow believers even more proud by giving God all of the glory for his success.
Jesus Did It
Just minutes after winning the race, Olympic Runner Wayde van Niekerk was interviewed about his incredible victory. And Wayde immediately refocused the attention on God.
"The only thing I can do now is to give God praise," he said.
Wayde tries hard to honor God in all he does. And running is no exception! He even revealed how he used a marker to write "Jesus I am all yours, use me" on his running shoes!
The humble athlete also tweeted his appreciation and praise after the race.
Thank you to everyone…

While everyone can’t stop talking about Wayde’s amazing win, it’s awesome to see that he can’t stop talking about the REAL reason for his success!
“I asked the Lord to carry me through the race and I am really just blessed for this opportunity.”
Our congratulations go out to Wayde. We can’t wait to see what other amazing things God has in-store for this faithful Christian!
“I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the LORD Most High.” Psalm 7:17
