Prancer the Chihuahua became a viral sensation thanks to a brutally honest adoption ad written by his foster mom. The hilarious description didn’t exactly paint the tiny dog in the best light but it did succeed in finding him a home!

When Prancer the Chihuahua landed at the Second Chance Pet Adoption League in New Jersey, the group followed the typical process for finding him a home.

They shared Prancer’s photo on social media along with his backstory. They played up his good traits and begged for someone to give the little guy a second chance. But try as they might, no one seemed interested in the “quirky chihuahua.”

Meanwhile, behind the scenes, Prancer was living in a foster home with Tyfanne Fortuna, the woman who rescued him. But to say it wasn’t the right home for Prancer seems like a grave understatement.

So, finally, Tyfanne got desperate and decided to be upfront about the “neurotic, man-hating, animal-hating, children-hating dog that looks like a gremlin” she brought into her home. And unexpectedly, her brutally honest adoption ad fr Prancer the Chihuahua went viral!

At the end of her rope, Tyfanne Fortuna didn’t hold back.

With a biting sense of humor, she described Prancer as “demonic” and as a “13-lb rage machine.” She even likened him to a “Chucky doll in a dog’s body,” referencing the evil doll from the 1988 horror film, Child’s Play.

Prancer may have sounded unlovable, but that’s certainly not the case. For starters, the brutally honest adoption ad made him an internet sensation. Folks from all over couldn’t get enough of him!

Still, it’s one thing to laugh at the hilarious summary and entirely another to actually bring him into your home. And Prancer the Chihuahua seemed like the kind of dog no one would want.

However, one woman from Connecticut, Ariel Davis, saw the truth about Prancer.

It wasn’t that the tiny dog was evil — he was just living in the worst possible environment for him. Prancer’s foster family, though they tried their best to love and care for him, simply wasn’t the right fit.

A Home For Prancer The Chihuahua

Prancer came from a quiet home where he lived with a single, elderly woman who doted on him like a child — the only child. His foster home was with a woman who had a husband, kids, and lots of other pets.

As a result, Prancer lived in a constant state of fear and reacted accordingly.

When 36-year-old Ariel Davis came across the brutally honest adoption ad for Prancer the Chihuahua, she had a different reaction than most. Sure, she found the ad amusing. But her heart also went out to this “neurotic mess” of a dog.

"I had a dog that I adopted probably about seven years ago and I raised him from a puppy and he was a Chihuahua/Jack Russel Terrier mix," she explained. "He had a lot of the same qualities as Prancer, he was a little neurotic and he barked a lot and he didn't work well with other people and other animals. I spent a lot of time working with him and understanding his personality and learning about myself through him.”

Ariel has spent the last few years cleaning herself up after an addiction. And now that she was ready for another pet, God led her to the perfect match!

Ariel adopted Prancer and he seems so much happier in his forever home. The two get along just great.

“I understand and I appreciate the article that was written that started all of this, but he’s just not that bad,” Ariel said about her new fur-baby.
