Pastor and writer Glen Scrivener knows that Christmas brings out the best and worst in people. And it all boils down to four kinds of Christmas. We all know someone who represents all four of these. First, is the Scrooge the person who sees nothing but darkness and foolishness. As others run around trying to prepare for the season the Scrooge sits back refusing to take part in any of the joy and merriment.

Then there is the shopper. This is the one who is focused on gifts gifts gifts. They think Christmas is all about the presents and will send themselves into debt for all the wrong reasons. The third Christmas is the Santa. This is the person who is caught up in the superficial reasons for the season, the parties, the ugly sweaters, and expecting that things and events will make them truly happy. But it is the fourth Christmas that is the one that really matters.

That is the Christmas of the savior. See the fourth Christmas knows why we truly celebrate, because God sent us the greatest gift anyone could ever get, the gift of Jesus Christ. This is the Christmas we should all celebrate. For the greatest king the world will ever know came down to be born in a lowly manger so that He could save us all.
