Our lives are busy. But they shouldn’t be too busy to find time for our faith walk. What if we were able to apply some ” Christian Life Hacks ” to our routines in order to make more quality time for the Father?

Our daily walk with Christ requires more from us than just a quick prayer here and there. As Christians we should be seeking God in all that we do, and working towards a deeper knowledge of Him through His Word.

A "life hack" is something that helps us get more done in a more efficient method. There may not be any quick fixes in life but there are ways to make our hours more meaningful. By finding a more resourceful way to work on your faith walk, more time can be spent with the Lord in prayer, in His Word, or just resting in Him. While our spiritual life should never be seen through the “quick fix” goggles, these tips (in no particular order) may give a starting point for an idea that transforms your daily walk into an even stronger relationship with God.

15. Christian Life Hacks – Find Your Quiet Space

This may be different for each of us, but finding quiet time to rest in God is important. By forcing yourself to find a quiet place to read, pray, and listen to Him it helps to “reset” the rest of your life in a positive way. Using the “airplane mode” on your phone is a great way to minimize distractions while you are seeking His Kingdom. (Here’s a Youtube clip to explain “airplane mode” if you are unsure of the feature!)

"Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed." Mark 1:35

14. Christian Life Hacks – Make Prayer A Pattern In Your Life

This seems self-explanatory but when we actually schedule our devotional times, like we would a meeting or event, we are more likely to keep that “appointment” with God. Getting in a rhythm of spending time in God’s Word daily will make it a habit. Those times with God will become an important element of the day. It’s valuable to find a daily pattern of family, work, and rest/prayer time.

"My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up." Psalm 5:3

Whether you are a “techie” and choose to use your phone or prefer traditional paper, using visual reminders are a helpful way to encourage devotional times. Place post-its around your house or office desk, set timers, or use the reminder feature on your phone to designate times to pray and read the Word.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. – Romans 12:2

12. Christian Life Hacks – Associate Prayer With A Regular Activity

Consider finding a prayer for different activities throughout the day. Find a scripture that you can associate with making coffee. While waiting at a stoplight, take a moment to pray for those who may be waiting with you or have passed you. Doing vacuuming and laundry can also be a time with God! What if you took that time to see how many verses you can recite? Or find a verse or two that relate to your daily taskes and turn them into a mini-devotional (Example – “Create in me a clean heart” -Ps 51:10 )

"Lord, let righteousness go before me and prepare the way ahead" Psalm 85:13

11. Christian Life Hacks – Make A Photo Prayer Wall

We all try to remember to pray for those closest to us. At night, tucking the kids into bed and saying our evening prayers often leads to “God bless Mommy, Daddy, Grandma, Grandpa and George (the dog)”. But what if we turned those casual prayers into a true focus point? Consider creating a photo gallery of those family members you need to lift in prayer. It could be small wallet-sized photos of each individual. Or set your smart phone lock screen to have a photo the family on vacation together. Take the time to pray for each individual pictured.

And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. – James 5:15-16

10. Christian Life Hacks – Keep Inspirational Scripture In Sight

If you are a smartphone owner, consider making your lock screen or home screen image a scripture verse to encourage your faith! Every time you receive a notification or pick up the phone to play a game or text a friend, the scripture will be there to remind you of God’s promises in your life.

If you still haven’t jumped into smart phones, placing sticky notes around your home to encourage learning God’s Word is a great idea. If you want something a little more permanent, consider small frames with printed scriptures! These are great near the bathroom mirror, laundry room, or by the most used entry door to your home!

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. – Psalm 119:105

9. Christian Life Hacks – Color Code Your Devotional Reading

Many of us have been doing this already but this is truly a great way to make your Bible study time effective – color coding! Instead of using heavy highlighters that are expensive or may bleed through, consider colored pencils! They can be as light or dark as you choose and better still, they erase! A simple 8-10 count pack at the dollar store gives plenty of useful colors to choose from for those who like associate colors with specific topics (pink = love, green= growth/encouragement, blue = peace).

8. Christian Life Hacks – Social Media Prayer Challenge

As more and more folks are on social media, we find a disconnect between the tangible world and our online relationships. But there are still bonuses to social media where we could take advantage. Instead of allowing social media to be a distraction from prayer time, make it a prayer challenge: pray for the first person who shows in your newsfeed that day!

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 1 Timothy 2:1-2

5. Christian Life Hacks – Have An Email Devotionals Account

It’s easy to find ourselves with the best intentions of doing devotionals but are quickly derailed by new emails. If you like receiving your devotionals by email, consider creating an account just for that purpose. By not signing into or opening your other email accounts, it will allow you to stay focused on your time with God.

Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans. – Proverbs 16:3

This might not be for everyone, but we love the idea of taking those 30 seconds, or 4 minutes, that the microwave is running to use as a time of prayer. It’s a simple idea but such a great one to implement! With the invention of washable window markers, this can be taken a step further by using the glass to write an artistic “Pray” reminder or specific prayer requests that you need to be keeping on your heart.

Let your hope keep you joyful, be patient in your troubles, and pray at all times. –Romans 12:12

3. Christian Life Hacks – Team Up

One of the easiest ways to keep yourself motivated is to have an accountability partner. Reading the Bible and taking set time to pray should not be difficult but often with busy lives, it is postponed. By choosing a partner and creating a devotional plan together, you can not only challenge one another to stay focused but will benefit in fellowship of sharing your devotional thoughts with each other.

“Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. –Matthew 18:19

2. Christian Life Hacks – Choose A Chapter For Bedtime Reading

This is an “oldie” but a “goodie”! Instead of trying to tackle the Bible by book, or even scriptural theme, consider choosing a chapter of Psalm to read each night and pray through. By choosing a chapter to read each night, it can calm the spirit and place you on the right track toward peace while you sleep and when you get up. Staring at a phone screen is probably not the best thing for the eyes, but scripture is definitely the best for the heart!

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. – Matthew 6:34

1. Christian Life Hacks – Use A “Spiritual Goals” Journal

Take the time to keep a journal of prayer and devotional time. Start by writing motivational goals for your spiritual life and where you would like to see your relationship with the Father grow. Find scripture passages to encourage these goals and begin to pray through them regularly. As new ideas, goals, or testimony-building moments occur, record them in your journal and pray through the next steps!
