Demi later thanked God for "keeping her alive." And thankfully, our Lord is the ultimate Redeemer. He’s always waiting to restore us, no matter how far we’ve fallen.
For Demi Lovato, a trip to Israel that included baptism in the Jordan River was the perfect way to “fill the God-sized hole” in her heart!
Demi Lovato Israel Trip
Demi Lovato opened up about the incredible journey on her Demi Lovato Instagram account.
“I was raised Christian and have Jewish ancestors,” she wrote. “When I was offered an amazing opportunity to visit the places I'd read about in the Bible growing up, I said yes.”
Visiting the ancient place, full of such rich faith-filled history, helped Demi reconnect with her Maker.
“I've never felt such a sense of spirituality or connection to God...something I've been missing for a few years now,” she said.
That connection grew even stronger when Demi opted for a baptism in the Jordan River.
“To be baptized in the Jordan river – the same place Jesus was baptized – I've never felt more renewed in my life,” Demi Lovato wrote of her baptism in Israel.
The 27-year-old American singer and Disney star says her trip to the Holy Land was just what she needed.
“This trip has been so important for my well-being, my heart, and my soul,” she said. “I'm grateful for the memories made and the opportunity to be able to fill the God-sized hole in my heart.”

Christian Celebrity Criticized For Trip
Sadly, Christian celebrity Demi Lovato has faced some harsh criticism for her trip to Israel from some who say she’s taking sides in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. However, the singer has since apologized, saying:
"This was meant to be a spiritual experience for me, NOT A POLITICAL STATEMENT and now I realize it hurt people and for that I’m sorry."
It truly seems as though Demi Lovato’s trip to Israel was meant as a way for her to reconnect with God. And the distractions and pitfalls of this world certainly make it easy to wander from our faith. Sometimes, we just need to get back into His presence.
