The Truth Behind A Call For ‘Hot Christian Girls’ Is Surprising

Hot Christian Girls Desperately Needed

“Hot Christian Girls Desperately Needed.” That’s the title that came across my newsfeed and had me ready to blow a gasket. With a society that already objectifies women, I couldn’t believe some site was now exploiting Christian women. I just had to see what this was all about.

I clicked on the post and prepared for the worst as the page loaded. But a few lines into the post, I was breathing a sigh of relief. And as I continued on, I quickly realized the author, Bethany Baird for Whole Magazine, had hit the nail on the head!

Read on to see if you agree. . .

I can almost hear you thinking, "she can't really mean what the title of this blog says. There's gotta be something else to this."

You are right. There is something else to this blog. Although this blog is about being a "hot girl" it's not the kind of hot you typically associate with that word.

Let me explain. The other day I was brainstorming in my prime brainstorming spot...the bathtub.

For some reason I come up with my best ideas in there.

Out of nowhere this verse came to mind and my brain went crazy, "I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm-neither hot nor cold-I am about to spit you out of my mouth" (Revelation 3:15-16)

Quick Lesson: This verse is not saying that God wants you to be all out for Jesus (hot), or reject him altogether (cold). That is a common misconception. This verse is saying that being both hot and cold are good things. Think about it this way, hot water is great for soothing, cleansing and drinking. Cold water is refreshing, delicious and great for so many purposes. Lukewarm water is just blahh. It isn't enjoyable or soothing. This verse is telling you to be one or the other. Be hot or cold (both are good things), but don't be lukewarm. I encourage you to listen to this sermon for further study.

When that verse came to mind, I realized something horrible.

Our world is filled with tons of "lukewarm" Christians. Christians who tread on careful ground in hopes not to offend anyone. Christians who don't take the Bible seriously. Christians who don't step out on a limb and share the gospel. Christians who don't want to look weird in the culture's eyes. Christians who would rather enjoy a comfortable life, over living all out for Jesus.

The world doesn't need anymore lukewarm Christian girls. It has enough.

What the world truly needs is Christian girls who choose to live fully devoted and committed lives for Christ. Girls who care deeply about representing Christ well. Girls who are passionate about understanding and obeying the Bible. Girls who are willing to look weird in front of their friends in order to honor God. Girls who are willing to sacrifice their comforts for the sake of the gospel. Girls who will live with eternity in mind.

Which kind of girl are you?

I want you to seriously think about your life. Are you passionate about living for Jesus, or are you just cruising through life trying to stay comfortable? You only have one life to live. Don't waste your life living for things that will one day pass away. Don't live for the applause of the culture. Don't live for the approval of others. Don't live for comforts. Don't live for today.

Choose to be a Christian girl whose focus is on Jesus and whose heart desire is to please Him.

A new way to view the word hot.

The next time you see or hear the word "hot" I want you to ask yourself this question, "Am I living all out for Jesus or am I living for myself?"

Don't waste your life living lukewarm. Live all out for Jesus because, in the end, that's all that truly matters.

And Remember...

Being a hot girl has nothing to do with your outward appearance, but everything to do with your passion, commitment, and desire to live all out for Jesus.

Will you be a hot girl?

Talk about a pleasant surprise! Hearing what Bethany had to say renewed my faith in the next generation. What a wonderful message, not just for “girls,” but for all women in Christ.

Be sure to share this with anyone you think may be interested in becoming a “hot” Christian!
