Lady Got Rude With A Starbucks Barista

It says in the Bible to be slow to speak and slow to anger (James 1:19). But let’s face it — that’s not always easy. And often, our frustration gets unloaded on the wrong person at the wrong time. That’s exactly what happened when one lady got rude with a Starbucks barista. But that same lady came back the next day. And this time, she was there to make amends!

When Debbie went through the drive-thru at Starbucks, she asked for a drink carrier. She was less than pleased when the Starbucks barista told her they were out of carriers. And in that moment, she lost her cool.

How many of us have had moments like that? But what Debbie did next is certainly not typical!

Making Things Right

After this lady got rude with a Starbucks barista, she felt terrible. So, Debbie came back the next day with a card.

The note inside read:

“Greetings Starbuck barista!

Yesterday at your drive thru we had a less than cheerful encounter. At no fault of yours, you were out of carriers and said you could not take my empty cup (trash). I was less than understanding and my manner was curt.
I need to apologize. The thought of leaving a trail of unkindness like that is not the path I want to reflect. Not for you, not for me.

You are a young man, clearly working hard to build a future and you should be commended. Keep up your attitude of cheer and hope. Stay hopeful no matter what kind of people cross your path (or drive thru 🙂 )

Surly, God has good blessing in store.

You taught this ole lady something yesterday about kindness, compassion and staying humble.

I thank you! Debbie

God bless you today and all your todays.”

In addition to the apology, the card also contained a $50 tip.

We all make mistakes. We’re human. But making the effort to set things right — that’s what makes Debbie’s response so special!
