Every year we take time on Veterans Day to stop and truly appreciate the sacrifice our men and women in uniform make to preserve our freedom. It is a day to slow down and really observe the luxuries our freedoms give us.
The men and women of our armed forces are to thank for risking their lives, leaving their families, and forgetting themselves to make things better for the rest of us. And there is truly nothing sweeter than seeing American children take time to say ‘thank you.’ And that is just what the kids of Beford Elementary did in the sweetest way.
All dressed in red, white and blue the kids sat on the floor of their gym to form the American Flag. And with the help of their teachers the kids prepared a special musical performance. The music started and they began to sing ‘We Honor You’. The simple but touching words remind of the selflessness and sacrifice of our military as well as how much we appreciate them.
Their voices are sweet enough, but when they started swaying from side to side to mimic the wave of the flag I got chills. After they finished their first song they began to sing ‘Thank a Vet.’ “If you love your country thank a vet, if you cherish freedom thank a vet, for the price they paid, for the sacrifice they made, if you love your country thank a vet.”
These students of all ages do such a beautiful job of taking time to focus on our veterans and we could truly learn something from their honest gratitude. Very very well done kids!If there is a veteran in your life, make sure you take the time to say ‘thank you’ today and every day.
