Al Roker, the Today Show weatherman, announced that his beloved dog Pepper had to undergo emergency surgery. He shared an update on his Instagram on May 5th.
Pepper, whom Al and his wife adopted from a Pennsylvania rescue in 2012, has been a popular feature on his Instagram account.

Al Roker’s Posts About Pepper’s Surgery
In the caption, Al wrote, “Our little girl, Pepper had emergency surgery but is on the mend. She's getting great care and is coming home tomorrow. Woof. You can sleep on our bed as much as you want.” He also shared photos of Pepper sitting in his lap, sitting in his wife Deborah’s lap, and hugging Deborah, some with the cone around his neck. Poor baby!
Deborah Roberts, American TV journalist and Al Roker’s wife of 28 years, also posted on her Instagram. Her caption read, “Gratitude. My heart is bursting with it today. Our littlest girl, Pepper, gave us quite a scare. She has survived an emergency surgery. But thankfully, Our strong girl is recovering. We are grateful for any and all prayers for our sweet doggie who has stolen our hearts for 12 years now. #grateful #heart ❤️🩹 #doggie #love”
Pepper Has Captured The Hearts of Fans
Pepper had captured the hearts of Al and Deborah’s followers. Many in the comments offered prayers and love to the pup.
“Praying for pepper, speedy recovery. My Sasha had surgery 2 weeks ago a tumor was removed. Thankfully it was benign and he’s on the road to recovery too❤️❤️❤️”

So Many Sweet Photos of Pepper
Al Roker has posted plenty of photos of Pepper over the years. She even “came to work” with him during the pandemic when he worked remotely on Today. She sat on his lap when he gave his weather reports.
In another Instagram post from last December, he shows a photo of Pepper and his baby granddaughter with the caption, “Pepper still not sure about Sky. Who is this who steals my attention?”
And they are both the cutest!
Some other adorable Pepper posts include Pepper wearing eclipse glasses, Pepper with Al’s whole family in a Christmas photo, and some sweet photos of her on the International Day of the Dog.
