bruce willis' wife gives update on his condition

The wife of Bruce Willis has provided a heartbreaking and sad update on the Hollywood actor's condition after his diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia earlier this year.

In March 2022, the family of Bruce Willis announced that the "Die Hard" star would be stepping away from acting. At that time, they revealed that he had aphasia, a disorder that impacts the ability to communicate. Then, in early 2023, Bruce's family stated that he had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia.

Emma Heming Willis, during an appearance on Today, was asked about her husband's health and whether he understood what was happening to him. Her answer was soul-crushing.

"Does he know what's going on?" Hoda Kotb asked. "Is that something that he is aware of?"

"Hard to know," Emma said. "It's hard to know."

Frontotemporal dementia is "a group of disorders that occur when nerve cells in the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain are lost," according to Johns Hopkins Medicine.

Emma Willis Refers To Herself As Her Husband’s “Care Partner”

When the actor's family finally got the diagnosis and learned what was affecting him, Emma referred to it as a "blessing" and a "curse."

"I think it was the blessing and the curse," Emma said. "You know, to sort of finally understand what was happening so that I can be into the acceptance of what is. It doesn't make it any less painful, but just being in the acceptance is and just being in the know of what is happening to Bruce just makes it a little easier."

Despite what her husband is going through, Emma does not call herself Bruce's caretaker. Instead, she sees herself as and calls herself something else.

"A care partner," she said. "He is my partner. I mean, he is my partner. So, I am his care partner."

During the interview, she also told those acting as care partners to ask for help and look after themselves.

"It's important to look after themselves. So that they can be the best care partner for the person that they're caring for," she said.

It’s clear from her comments throughout the interview that Emma, Bruce and the entire Willis family need prayer.
