Judge Judy Sheindlin has been gracing the television sets of millions of Americans for over 20 years. She is famous for her stern “no-excuses” attitude, divisive decisions, and harsh criticism. Despite her controversial television persona, she continues to win over the hearts of Americans year after year on her show. People enjoy her unique approach and refreshing brutal honestly. Years before Judge Judy became a household name, she was practicing law in a small courtroom in New York City.
Even during those days, she was known for being very aggressive in the courtroom. During this 1993 pre-television interview segment, Judy explains her reasoning for her fiery approach. She shares her passion for bringing justice to her local community. Even going as far as exposing the immense brokenness in the New York City Family Court system. Judy is known in the New York City judicial system as a “judicial treadmill”, cranking out over 300 cases a month without an issue.
This interview aired three years before she started her Judge Judy television show and it was clear all the way back then that she was destined for greatness. Judy is 75 years old but you would never be able to tell from her work ethic. She still works 52 days a year and puts her heart and soul into every case that comes across her desk. She excels both in the courtroom and outside of it as well.
She has five amazing children, three of which have followed in her footsteps. She is surprisingly a really carefree and fun-loving mother and grandmother. She has such a big heart for serving her community and her family. There is a reason her television show has been on the air as long as it has been. It’s because we all see apart of ourselves in Judy. Just like her, we are stern when we need to be, and loving when it counts.
