I cannot imagine the heartache and the loss Steve and his sons Bryce and Connor are experiencing after the loss of Charlene Owens.

Mom Loses Her Life To Bile Duct Cancer

Charlene was the love of Steve’s life and the glue that held their family together. Charlene's greatest joy was being a mom and serving in her community. Her two biggest passions were raising awareness for Autism and helping the veterans in her community.

When Charlene received the prognosis for stage 4 bile duct cancer, she fought hard. She wanted to be there for her family and was determined to beat it. When she received the news she wasn't going to beat cancer, Steve and Charlene decided to make their last days special.

“We’ve been together for 28 years and married 25 in September, but with the doctors’ reports, we may not make that,” he said. They quickly planned to renew their wedding vows. Her sister Ellen Huff added, "We quickly planned a renewal ceremony for her and her husband for Valentine’s Day, we figured what better way to celebrate their love story than on the day of love."

Within 24 hours of planning, Charlene walked down the aisle in her original wedding dress and bald from her fight with cancer. Despite that, she never felt more beautiful walking down the aisle to the love of her life with her sons by her side.

The pair celebrated their time left by loving each other and embracing every moment with Charlene. A month later, she passed from her husband's arms into the arms of Jesus. She left them with wise words, "No matter how hard life gets, you have to hold on to each other.”
