Sydney McLaughlin is a two-time Olympic Gold medalist for the USA. She also holds the current world record holder in the women’s 400-meter hurdle. Her parents introduced her to running at the tender age of six.

Ever since, she's been running hard after God and showing the world what it means to love God with her mind, soul, and body. As someone who is used to accomplishing goals, she tells all about how she let God lead her to the man meant for her.

"Ever since I was very young, I always looked forward to the day when I would get married. I’ve made that such a big part of my life. I was constantly looking throughout my teenage years, throughout college, and into early adulthood. A big part of meeting my fiancé had to do with the evolution of my faith, finding who I am in Christ and submitting all my plans to God. Not long after I did that, I met Andre," she said.

Her love story with Andre began with a prayer and submitting her future to God. Then she met Andre, her husband. "We started off as friends. He asked me to do Bible study with him and introduced me to a group of really great people who were encouraging and very mature.”

She continued, “It was the first time I was in a relationship with a man who I felt could lead me in my faith to a place where I wanted to be. We both knew early on that we liked each other and what our intentions were. If I could say the one thing about our relationship, it’s that it was always very intentional. Honestly, I knew the fourth day we ever talked. So that’s something."

USA Gold medalist Sydney McLaughlin is a woman with goals, ambition, and the gift of running; now, she's living her God-given dreams with her husband by her side.

The Big Day

The day of her wedding included sneakers. She even had a few talks with her dad about foot attire. Before the wedding, she told her father, "I told him, yes, you can wear sneakers, but I need to see them first-he can be swagged out, but we have to be on the same page."

In the midst of wedding planning, becoming a new wife, and being a USA Gold medalist, Sydney McLaughlin knows where she needs to turn when it comes to challenges.

"I really prioritize prayer. And not just at meals or in the morning and at night, but throughout the day. I try and be vocal about things, whether I’m feeling them or just thinking them. I release them to God. If I’m facing a challenge or adversity, I have the tools and knowledge from scripture to fight the battles in front of me. I also take time to just be alone. I’ll go to the beach, listen to music and decompress with my thoughts. This helps me come back to my center, refocus and move forward."

She turns to God with all her fears, worries, and dreams while showing the world what it means to be running hard after God.
