The actor Ryan Phillippe, 49, is starring in a new movie, Prey, about the lives of a young missionary couple in the Kalahari desert.

Ryan plays Andrew, and Mena Suvari plays his wife, Sue. The two must leave their station and take off in a plane piloted by Grun, played by Emile Hirsch. However, the plane crashes in the desert.

Actor Ryan Phillippe is Craving a Relationship With God

The IMDb synopsis states, “A young couple is compelled to leave their Christian missionary station in the Kalahari Desert after being threatened with death by an extremist militant gang. After crashing their aircraft, they must battle man and beast for their lives.”

In an interview with Fox News, Ryan Phillippe talks about how his time making this movie led to him craving a relationship with God. "It's interesting because I was kind of in a darker place when we filmed this, and it was right after filming it where I went on this spiritual journey where I started going really deep inside," Ryan says.

He Got Back Into Reading the Bible

He also commented about how he got back into reading his Bible and other tomes and how he was drawn to spirituality. “You get to a point in life, a certain age, and the things that you thought would bring you pleasure or make you feel satisfied - these would be success or money - and it doesn't,” he tells Fox News.

The father of three also commented, "I'm so thankful for what I've been given and for the experiences that I've had and for my children and everything else, but I wanted to have a relationship and understanding with God, and I was craving that."

Ryan’s Life Has Changed

Hearing an actor such as Ryan Phillippe grow closer to God and spend time wanting to know more about him is refreshing. It seems as if playing a missionary, someone devoted to having a spiritual life, has bled over into his real life. I am sure he learned many lessons during the movie’s filming, and he is determined to follow through and keep that going even after filming ended.

In addition to craving more of God, Ryan shares how his life has changed since he started on this new path. “And I've got to tell you, since I started that journey, I have not been more at peace. My depression is gone. I shedded addictions,” he says. “I'm a big proponent for people going inward and trying to understand those aspects of life.”
