Outspoken Christian actress Candace Cameron Bure is no stranger to controversy. She’s not afraid to defend her faith and often receives flack for it. But how Candace Cameron Bure responds after being attacked for wearing a t-shirt with the slogan “Not Today Satan” shows just what a class act she is!
It’s certainly no secret that Candace Cameron Bure is a Christian. And she knows full well that, as a child of God, she has authority over Satan and his schemes.

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7
And she let the Enemy know she wasn’t messing around by sporting a T-shirt that read “Not Today Satan.”
But when she posted a no-nonsense photo of herself in the shirt to her Instagram account, online bullies attacked.
While the “Not Today Satan” saying has certainly been around for some time, it became a popular catchphrase of drag queen Bianca Del Rio on the reality TV series "RuPaul's Drag Race." And Bianca fired an attack on the Christian actress after seeing her photo. Many of Bianca’s fans followed suit, posting nasty comments in response to Candace’s photo.
Candace Cameron Bure Responds To T-Shirt Backlash
Candace could have easily responded to all of the hate with anger. But she clearly took Proverbs 29:11 to heart:
“Fools give full vent to their rage, but the wise bring calm in the end.”
Rather than fire back a snarky remark or get into a debate about differing beliefs, Candace Cameron Bure responds calmly:
“Why do you have to be nasty to me? You don't know me or my heart. I’m not homophobic and always sad when people think otherwise. Loving Jesus doesn’t mean I hate gay people or anyone. You sent a bunch of hateful people to my page writing horrible things. I hope next time you’ll spread love and kindness, even when you disagree with people. Sending you love and wish you all the best. Truly - Candace.”
What a wonderful example of how to gracefully respond to adversity! When being attacked, it’s hard not to get caught up in our emotions. But it’s far better to be slow to anger and slow to speak (James 1:19).

The Pharisees were always trying to rile Jesus up, in the hopes that He would say something to contradict his preachings. But Jesus was a champ at keeping His cool. He always deferred to His Father’s Will, leaving us with the perfect example of how we should respond.
