Mallory Headings' grandpa suffers from dementia. And sadly his care became too much for his wife to handle. So, the family made the tough decision to put the grandfather with dementia in a nursing home where he would be better cared for.
Recently, Mallory and her family went for a visit, as they often do, and something amazing happened. Mallory thought her Grandpa might enjoy hearing a song so she decided to start singing one of his favorite hymns ‘It Is Well.’

The powerful lyrics resonate with all those who are facing hard times. In fact, the hymn’s author, Horatio Spafford, penned these words of conviction just after losing each one of his children in a tragic shipwreck.
“When peace like a river, attendeth my way,

Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say
It is well, it is well, with my soul”

And once Mallory started to sing the inspirational hymn, she got a pleasant surprise. Her Grandpa chimed in!
Mallory and her grandpa used to sing old hymns together and he even remembered his harmony. This is such a heartwarming moment to witness.
Dementia can take a toll on a family, but I’m so glad that their love for the Lord brought these two back to each other. What a blessing to watch this grandfather and granddaughter share such a special connection.
