Authorities say a family of six was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Reckless drivers caused a crash, which ended up flipping the family’s minivan. But God made sure the right people were on hand at the crash. A group of strangers came to the rescue, lifting the overturned van to get all of the passengers to safety!

Unfortunately, the area in Arlington, Texas where the crash occurred is a hotbed for dangerous driving. Two other vehicles were dangerously street racing. When one of the vehicles hit another car, it set off a chain reaction which ended with the minivan rolling over.

But in the wake of the terrifying wreck, God was clearly at work!

Strangers Come Together

A group of bystanders raced to help. Working together, they righted the overturned van and helped the family of six, which included three children and a grandmother, escape.

“Couldn’t have gone any smoother,” said Teri Pratt, an eye witness who videotaped the rescue. “Everybody got over there. They lifted the car. Everybody worked together, they got the grandmother out.”

Thanks to all of the teamwork, the family was free and had a trauma nurse who happened to be among the roadside bystanders tending to them before first responders arrived.

The Arlington Fire Department says three people were taken to the hospital as a result of the crash and one victim is in serious condition.

"Given how many people were involved, it could’ve been worse," said Arlington Police Sgt. Vanessa Harrison. "Incidents like this are exactly why we’re out here being proactive with our aggressive driving enforcement.”

The family of six, however, is just fine. At least one of the racing drivers has been arrested.

As for the group of Good Samaritans who helped out, everyone is calling them heroes.

"To see random people get out and help someone they don't know is well over and beyond what we see on a normal basis anymore," Sgt. Harrison said.

And that’s exactly why eye witness Teri Pratt shared the footage of the rescue following the crash. She thought it was important their brave act of kindness be recognized.

“There’s still good people out there,” Teri said. “There’s still people out there who are willing to stop, to take the time, to put themselves in danger to help others.”
