An 89-year-old pizza delivery man was working 30 hours a week until strangers rallied to tip him $12,000!
Derlin Newey is an 89-year-old pizza delivery driver from Roy, Utah. Times are tough, so he delivers for Papa Johns for thirty hours a week trying to raise money to afford to pay his bills.

A man named Carlos Valdez, a regular customer of Derlin's, started to record Derlin when he delivered him his pizzas. Derlin began to win over fans with his own little catch phrase, "Hello, are you looking for some pizza?"
After Carlos started recording the interactions, 53,000 fans on the social media platform TikTok started to look forward to Carlos' videos of Derlin. "It's insane. Everybody loves him," Carlos commented.
Strangers Come Together To Help Elderly Pizza Delivery Man
But then Carlos said that so many of his followers became outraged with the system, saying, "Somebody at that age should not be working that much.”
It was then that the Valdez family had the idea that they should raise money to help Derlin out. "Collectively as a TikTok community, we all came together, and we were able to raise $12,000 for this amazing person," said Carlos.

The Valadez family partnered up with KSL TV, and they made a special delivery to the man. KSL sent out a tweet on twitter that read "89-year old Derlin Newey is a pizza delivery man who received a surprise delivery of his own today. Elderly Man Gets Emotional From Strangers’ Kindness
The tweet included a clip of the very emotional Derlin "How do I ever say thank you? I don't know what to say," he then went on to say "I don't know what to say, except thank you.” Carlos then then went on to comment, "This couldn't have gone any better," Carlos said.
"He needed this. I'm just glad we could help him. We just need to treat people with kindness and respect the way he does. He stole our hearts." This simple act of kindness went a very long way, and it was very heartwarming to see a community of people come together and help the elderly man!
