This 14-year-old Just Kissed His Mom For The Very First Time. And It’s All Because Of An Abandoned Pit Bull!

Roxy + Joey = BFF

Being greeted and kissed by my puppy is a great way to start and end my day. But, I must say, having my children greet me with hugs and kisses far out weighs it all! And for this mom, it’s finally her turn. You see, her son, now 14, has lived with Asperger’s Syndrome since he was 7 years old. Showing affection has not been his thing. Until now. And when you hear who gets the credit, you’ll be smiling (or wagging your tail if you’re a pup)!

Joey Granado, who lives in Los Angeles, has had trouble for years showing affection. This is a side affect of his Asperger’s Syndrome that he and his family have been living with for the last 7 years. But that’s all about to change!

Joey’s mother, Amanda, decided to adopt a family pet. She found a rescued pit bull in need of a home. And what this pup, named Roxy, did for this family is super sweet!

Roxy and Joey were instant friends. Roxy would shower Joey with affection – affection he has never really expressed interest in. And while Joey does not take change well, he sure has accepted Roxy and her love with his entire being.

So much so, that Joey, at age 14 and without being prompted, reached out to hold his mom’s hand one day while they were walking. Then one day, he hugged her. AND then one day, Joey kissed his mother on her cheek for the first time!

Amanda is so extremely happy with how Joey has begun to show affection and credits the new pup saying, “Roxy has a very goofy demeanor, extremely loving; the biggest thing is she can read him,” Granados said. “Joey comes home every day to a big hug and a ton of kisses. This was physical contact he welcomed and was never forced.”

This has been a perfect match for both Roxy and her new best friend, Joey! What a wonderful love connection that meets both their needs.

“He is so much happier, I think having a friend that is always there whether you're having a good day or bad day and no judgements are passed makes a world of difference to Joey,” the mother said. “She sees her human and he sees his best friend.”

May God bless this relationship for years to come. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 teaches us to “Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
