In a viral post honoring our nurses, Laura McIntyre shares a photo of her twin sister after a particularly long and tough shift. And what she says reminds us what special angels nurses truly are!

Nurses really are amazing people. It’s an often thankless profession that truly requires someone with a servant’s heart. These folks give so much of themselves, all in an effort to help others.

That’s why it’s important to spend time honoring our nurses. And that’s exactly what a young woman named Laura McIntyre did as she sat in awe of her twin sister, Caty.

Twin Sister’s Post Honoring Our Nurses

Caty stopped by her twin sister’s house one day after an especially hard day. She’d worked several long, back-to-back shifts and what happened there hit her hard.

You see, during her shift, Caty had delivered a stillborn baby. And she carried the heartbreak home with her, long after her day at the hospital was done.

As Laura McIntyre sat across from her twin sister, the raw emotion struck a chord with her. And she was inspired to spend some time honoring our nurses.

Laura began by outlining the demanding schedule nurses have, along with the many personal sacrifices they make each day.

“She usually doesn’t get a chance to eat lunch or even drink much water,” Laura explained. “She is so good at what she does that she often forgets how to take care of herself while she’s taking care of her patients.”

Of course, the physical demands are only part of the job of a nurse. Laura went on in her tribute honoring nurses about the emotional burden they carry, as well.

“Have you guys ever really thought about what a labor and delivery nurse sees?” she asked on social media.

A Day In The Life Of Labor And Delivery Nurses

For labor and delivery nurses like Caty, there are beautiful moments when they get to share in the joy of smooth deliveries and healthy babies. But there is a wide range of difficult situations, too.

The nurses see the terror of emergency c-sections, addicts giving birth to babies in withdrawal, young mothers giving birth alone without support from family, and countless tragedies where the baby doesn’t make it.

“Did you know that they have to make arrangements for the funeral home to come pick up the baby?” Laura asks.

And that’s why Laura McIntyre took the time to pen a tribute honoring our nurses. Because through all of it, the good times and bad, these folks are there serving the people who need them. Not for money. Not for credit or even thanks. They do it simply to serve.

“Caty, and all other nurses, you are SPECIAL. You bless your patients and their families more than you will ever know. Thank you for all that you do,” Laura concluded in her post honoring our nurses.

What a beautiful picture of Christ-like love! Please be sure to share this story as a way to say “thank you” to all the wonderful nurses out there.
