Emma and her identical twin sister, Claire, have always been exceptionally close. But now their relationship is even tighter and a very unique circumstance that has brought them even closer. When twin becomes surrogate, it creates an even tighter bond.
Claire suffers from multiple sclerosis. When she was pregnant with her daughter Lucy in 2010, the doctors sadly shared that she and husband John would not be able to have any more children due to complications with her health.
Sadly, when Lucy was five she passed away from myocarditis (weakened heart) caused by swine flu.
"She came home from school one day with a cold and that was it, it was so sudden. They wouldn’t have been able to do anything about it even if it had been discovered sooner, we only found out why she had died when they did the post mortem.” Claire told the Mirror.
Claire and James were completely devastated after losing their sweet little girl and being left childless. They knew they had so much love to give and desperately wanted another child.
"It's just so overwhelming. I just so wanted another child and the doctor said really please don't have another child I strongly advise you against it." Claire told Jeremy Kyle.
Prior to Lucy’s unexpected death, the sisters had talked openly about the idea of Emma being a surrogate for her sister and brother-in-law. Emma had two healthy pregnancies and wanted to see her sister have the same joy by having multiple children.

Emma’s husband, Dave, was supportive of the sisters’ plan. He knew how important they are to each other but also how important having a family was to Claire.
“Dave was amazing – he was 110 per cent supportive. He knew I’d do anything for my sister. ” Emma said.
While the pregnancy went very well, Emma said that she was not considering another one due to her age and the discomfort.
“We are so lucky to have a son. It's been really hard but this is the most amazing thing she has done." Claire shared.
The two families welcomed baby Andrew on New Years Day and said he couldn’t be more perfect. According to Mom, Claire and Dad, John, Andrew is happy and healthy. The twins’ families are enjoying having a new little one to love on – together!
