A Massachusetts family is speaking out and warning others following the death of a 14-year-old after he participated in the "One Chip Challenge."

That's why the family of Harris Wolobah is warning others about the "One Chip Challenge." According to People, Harris took part in the viral "One Chip Challenge." Hours later, the 14-year-old with no known pre-existing conditions was dead.

“I hope, I pray to God that no parents will go through what I’m going through," Harris' mom, Lois Wolobah said. "I don’t want to see anybody hurting the way I’m hurting.”

The "One Chip Challenge," which essentially tests one's threshold for hot and spicy food, involves eating one single chip covered in seasoning from two of the hottest peppers available, according to Today. The outlet reports that the challenge actually debuted back in 2016.

Those who participated in the challenge were instructed to eat the entire chip. Then, they were encouraged to wait as long as possible before reaching for a glass of water or milk.

Harris' family received a call from the school after the young reportedly passed out at school after eating the spicy chip. After being sent home, the young man later passed away.

The Company Has Now Discontinued The “One Chip Challenge”

A cause of death for the young man has not yet been determined. But Harris' family believes it was because of the "One Chip Challenge," according to the Associated Press.

In response to Harris' death and "out of an abundance of caution," Paqui, the company behind the challenge, announced, in a statement on their website, that they are discontinuing the "One Chip Challenge."

"We are actively working with our retailers to remove the product from shelves," the statement reads in part.
