For the popular Christian comedian Tim Hawkins, the wrong psalm still haunts him today. When asked about his favorite Bible verse, he blanked and mistakenly quoted the wrong one. And hearing the verse he ended up picking likely made for some interesting conversations and one funny story!
God's Word is essential daily reading, basically the blueprint for life. The Bible is equipped with advice and timeless wisdom that can be applied to every situation and circumstance in life. The lessons that can be gathered from the Bible are invaluable.
However, while the Bible may be a thick book, everyone has a favorite verse they rely on or reflect upon during different circumstances and situations. For comedian Tim Hawkins, his favorite verse is Psalm 34:8: "O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusts in him."
Tim Hawkins’ Funny Story About The Wrong Psalm
Well, in a clip posted on YouTube, Tim recalls a time after one of his shows when he forgot the exact location of his favorite Bible verse. As Tim tells it, he was signing autographs after a show when one fan asked him to include his favorite verse from the Bible.
It didn't end well when Tim mistakenly included the wrong Psalm.
"But that night, I forgot the verse," Tim says. "I just blanked on it."
Instead of Psalm 34:8, Tim signed autographs for nearly a hundred people and included a different verse from the book of Psalms.
"So, I'm thinking, ‘Oh, it's Psalm something. I got to pick something,'" Tim said. "And I said, ‘I'll just have to make up a verse here.' So, I did. I picked Psalm 38, verse 7. I picked it out of thin air."
When Tim got home, he looked up that verse, Psalm 38:7, and realized his unfortunate but hilarious error.
"And to my horror, it says, ‘Lo, I have a painful disease in my loins,"' Tim said.
That verse, from Psalm, isn't likely to be a favorite verse of many.
"What are there, a billion verses in the Bible, and I chose that one?" Tim said.
Proverbs 17:22 "A glad heart makes a healthy body, but a crushed spirit makes the bones dry."
