Police Officer Roger Gemoules pulled over 22-year-old Ka’Shawn Baldwin for expired license plate tags. However, he was in for a big surprise!
Ka’Shawn from Cahokia, IL, was pulled over by the officer for expired plates and didn’t have a valid license. This could have meant some trouble for Ka’Shawn, but Officer Gemoules did not give him a ticket. He offered him a ride instead.

Ka’Shawn Was Headed to a Job Interview
Compassion like this warms the heart in a world of so much strife. Officer Gemoules gave Ka’Shawn a chance, and it changed his life forever.
Ka’Shawn was going to a job interview when he was pulled over for expired license plates. He explained where he was headed to the officer and that he had no other way to get there. This was when Officer Gemoules thought about the impact that a ticket could have on him and decided to drive him there himself.
“Something came upon me,” he said. “Whatever it was, and said, ‘Give him a little break.’ So that’s what I did.”
Ka’Shawn made it to the interview on time and got the job-all thanks to the kindness of Officer Gemoules.

The Officer Wanted To Help Him Out
“He took the time out of his day to actually take me to the job interview after a traffic stop,” Ka’Shawn said in a Fox News interview. He was very thankful for the grace and love the officer showed him.
Officer Roger Gemoules shared, “To give him tickets and tow his car would just make things a lot worse so, just tried to think how I could help him out.” And help him out he did.
The Mayor, Curtis McCall Jr., even made a statement about Officer Roger Gemoules’s actions. “It’s not always about writing tickets or sending someone to jail. It is about helping people when we can and building relationships. Job well done, Officer Gemoules, and congrats to the young man for getting the job.”

Yes, it is very much a job well done. Officer Gemoules showed grace when he didn’t have to. It is a reminder of the grace God has given us and an inspiration to do better as we go about our daily lives. There are so many times when we, too, can give others grace help make the world a better place.
