Loving Family Adopts Strawberry the Unicorn Dog and Finally Gives Her the Life She Deserves

A loving family in California finally gave Strawberry, affectionately described as a "unicorn dog," a home.

Animals are special creatures, made by the same God who hung the moon, sun and stars in place. Dogs are some of the most loving, loyal and dependable beings you'll ever meet. They desire what everyone else wants: a place where they are needed and loved.

Strawberry is a 2-year-old pit bull, who had a rough start in life, according to Today. Strawberry was moved from shelter to shelter. She also sports a very noticeable bump on the top of her head. The animal, at one time, was nearly euthanized.

However, the Labelle Foundation in Los Angeles stepped in and saved the sweet dog from being put down.

"We saw Strawberry's shelter picture in a state of such neglect and we knew we needed to save her," the foundation posted on social media. "Her skin was bright pink from infection, covered in mange and she had 2 large lumps on her head."

The remaining lump on the sweet dog is now the result of an old injury, the foundation adds. Removing it would have only been a cosmetic procedure, which could have resulted in significant brain injury to the animal.

However, no one seemed to take home the dog with a lump on her head. That is until one woman saw the dog and thought of Strawberry as a "one in a million, one of a kind."

“I just kept seeing her picture pop up on the foundation’s Instagram page and she was still available … She just had such gentle eyes and, you know, I had never seen a dog like her ever before,” Kristen Kulhman said.

Kristen, her husband and the couple's twins welcomed Strawberry into their home in September 2022. But Strawberry, given her difficult start in life, had trouble adjusting to her new surroundings. Kristen told Today that Strawberry would "kind of cry" at nighttime.

In a few weeks, Strawberry adjusted nicely. She has fit in and is "the most affectionate dog."

Strawberry has become a member of the family. The animal loves to cuddle up with Kristen's husband and their twins during naps and enjoys a nice game of fetch.

Strawberry is a "good snuggler,” as described by Claire Kulhman, one member of the family.

"God created the large sea creatures, and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed, after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind. God saw that it was good."Genesis 1:21
